The Cliffs at Long Creek, a resort located in Ridgedale, Missouri, allows vacationers to experience the beauty of the Ozark Mountains. Guests of the resort have access to a number of parks and natural preserves in the surrounding area, such as Bull Shoals-White River State Park. At the Gaston Visitor Center, which offers breathtaking views of Bull Shoals Lake from a two-story observation deck, visitors can learn about the historical and cultural significance of the park. The lake is also known as a prime trout fishing spot.
On a hot day, check out the truly unique Johnson’s Shut-Ins State Park, a completely natural water park along the East Fork of the Black River. The park takes its name from the way the hard, erosion-resistant rock in the area has confined the river (or “shut it in”) to a narrow, swiftly flowing channel with rapids and pools. Families can spend hours splashing in the waters and exploring the natural rock formations.
In the evenings, board the Branson Belle, a paddlewheel riverboat that offers dinner cruises around Table Rock Lake. To work off the delicious meal, plan a hike around the 2.2-mile Table Rock Lakeshore Trail, which offers great views of the water.
Other area attractions include championship golf courses and Branson, a town that is known for its live entertainment, with 49 venues for performances.
